    Dynamic Excel Reporting
    • The CEO and CFO of a mid-sized advertising agency like detailed reporting and they insist on their financial reports and dashboards to be built in Google Sheets.
    • The controller of the agency, who oversees the accounting function and owns the general ledger within Intacct, is tasked with producing those reports in Google Sheets. 
    • The controller uses Amalgam to connect the Google Sheets financial reports and dashboard directly to Sage Intacct in an automated way. The controller updates the Intacct-connected reports on a monthly basis using just one click and distributes reporting to management earlier in the monthly cycle.

    Batch Journal Entries
    • A public accounting firm's CAS practice has a software client that uses Stripe as its payment and revenue tool. The CAS team is tasked with converting the Stripe data into proper revenue recognition with deferred entries for loading Sage Intacct.
    • The CAS team uses Amalgam to download the raw Stripe data directly into Excel and organize the various transactions into a deferred revenue schedule, which makes up no less than a dozen journal entries per month.
    • The CAS team connects Sage Intacct to that Excel workbook and loads those dozen journal entries as one batch directly into the general ledger without having to actually log in and manually create them.

    Bank Transaction Loads
    • An outsourced accounting firm has a construction business client where they handle all of the accounting and finance functions including managing cash transactions. 
    • The biggest obstacle during their monthly process is entering all those cash transactions into Sage Intacct as the client uses a small regional bank. The outsourced accounting firm uses a simple two-sheet Excel template, enhanced with Amalgam, to automate the cash transaction process. 
    • On the first sheet of the Excel file the outsourced accountant uses Amalgam to download the transactions directly from the bank accounts used by the client. The second sheet is Amalgam's bank transaction upload template. That second sheet is simply linked to the first sheet, tagged to the proper accounts, and uploaded directly to Sage Intacct with a click. 

    Requirements:

    Integrating with this application requires you to use the partner’s SenderID. By using the partner’s SenderID, you do not need to buy a web services developer license from Sage and your API usage will not count towards your API performance tier. Sage may prevent customers from integrating with this application under their own SenderID.

    Amalgam started life as a side project, built as a helpful excel macro for an outsourced Accounting, Finance and Bookkeeping firm based in NYC. Originally it was nothing more than a big gray “download” button in Excel models that allowed the team to update their financial models by downloading historical data directly from quickbooks.

    Over time, this one tool grew into a whole suite, and connections to other platforms like Xero, Amazon, Shopify, and Stripe fell into place. When other businesses and accounting firms started to inquire about licensing the platform, it became clear that we were onto something.

    Amalgam is still based in NYC, but now has a global team and an ever increasing list of connections. We serve all sorts of functions from Real Estate to Marketing to Ecommerce, and have customers ranging from national accounting firms and fund administrators to startups and solopreneur bookkeepers, and everything in between.
